The Circular Square is a community hub dedicated to the circular economy was opened in Clonmel early April and has since hosted many public events: from Repair cafés to clothes swaps, to regular toy library meetups.

The new venue is dedicated to reusing, reducing, loaning, swapping and repairing objects and things such as clothes, toys, household appliances and heirlooms to extend their life cycles.

The space is the work of a dedicated group of repairers who set up the Clonmel Repair café in 2018 and helped establish the Toy Library in 2022, which loans out toys on a donation basis, saving money, space and the headache of unwanted toys to local families.

The Toy library has now 75 registered families as regular members.
A few regular activities have recently been added to the calendar with a Repair Club taking place every second Thursday of the month inviting budding repairers to practice their skills with a view to joining our team of volunteer repairers.

SEW SOCIAL
Another event that has been added is the very popular monthly Sew Social which takes place every third Wednesday of the month from 7 to 9pm.

This encourages people with an interest in sewing to bring along their sewing machine and brush up their skills.
At Sew Social, you will be eased into your sewing machine and taught basic tips that will make repairing and alteration easy, with a view to taking on more ambitious projects.

A team of seamstresses and technicians will help you and there is also always a good chat to be had around a cup of tea.
More info about dates and registration can be found at the Suircan website.

The Circular Square aims to promote the Circular Economy and Climate Action by offering practical steps and simple actions to implement in our everyday life towards a more sustainable future for our children.

We also offer diagnostics on items that may need professional referral.
The Circular Square under the umbrella of Suircan Environmental is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers and relies on donations to cover rental and utilities costs.
