The arrival of the Liam MacCarthy Cup at St Mary’s CBS National School in Clonmel was an occasion of great joy for pupils and staff.
The silverware was accompanied by Tipperary hurlers Seamus Kennedy and Peter McGarry.

The players were given a hero’s welcome as they spoke to pupils about the victory over Cork in the All-Ireland Final and signed autographs during the visit.
Principal Eoin Morrissey said the visit was a great occasion for the school, and everybody was so proud of the achievements of all of the players on the Tipperary senior hurling panel.
“What they managed to do this year brought great joy and a sense of pride to so many people, all over the county,” said Eoin Morrissey.

The school principal said the school had a long and proud association with the St Mary’s club and it was amazing for the pupils to see players from that club bring the MacCarthy Cup to the school.
