Fergal O’Keeffe, of Clonmel, Co Tipperary was presented with the prestigious award of Local Broadcaster of the Year at the Travel Extra Travel Journalist of the Year Awards which took place in Dublin last weekend.
Fergal was presented the award by Eoin Corry of Travel Extra who said: “Fergal O’Keeffe was chosen by our expert panel for the consistently high standard of his travel segments on the Morning Focus show on Clare FM throughout 2025.”

This is the second year in a row Fergal O’Keeffe has won this award for his travel work on Clare FM.
Speaking at the awards Fergal said: “I am so delighted and proud to win this award and I would like to thank my colleagues in Clare FM without whom I would not have won this award. I would like to give a special thanks to the host of Morning Focus Alan Morrissey who always gets the best out of me.”
Fergal O’Keeffe is also the host of Ireland’s leading travel podcast “Travel Tales with Fergal” which he has produced since 2020.
The fortnightly podcast is listened to in over 140 countries worldwide and he recently celebrated hitting the 100th episode milestone.
The prestigious event was attended by the top Irish travel and tourism writers and broadcasters, whose work is testament to the creativity and innovation of travel and tourism journalism in Ireland.

The award winners were selected by a distinguished panel of senior Irish editors.
Cían Byrne was presented with the overall Travel Extra Journalist of the Year Award at the ceremony.
Ten other winners, each for different holidaying categories, were announced this evening at the awards dinner sponsored by the Spanish Tourism Office and Costa del Sol Tourism in Thomas Prior Hall, Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge.
