The Transition Year students in Raheen College (CTI Clonmel) are spreading awareness about the Lions Club’s Message in a Bottle project as part of the Young Social Innovators project.
The Message in a Bottle’s purpose is to help emergency services find a person’s medical requirements in an emergency.
The idea behind the initiative is simple - people go to their local pharmacy or GP, and ask for the Message in a Bottle.
They will be given a green bottle with three adhesive stickers and an information form.
People then fill out the form with their medical details such as their known medical conditions, all the medication they are taking and any other medications to which they might be allergic. They then place the bottle in their fridge.

After that they put one sticker on their front and back doors, then they put the last sticker on the fridge’s door, so that emergency services know where the bottle is.
