St Mary's Parochial School

St Mary’s Parochial School in  Clonmel hosted a wonderful concert by Band 1 Brigade – Cork earlier this month.

The venue was the beautiful Old St Mary’s Church. The sun shone brightly as the soldiers arrived to Clonmel. St Mary’s Parochial School was also joined by music students from Gaelcholáiste Chéitinn and Raheen College with their music teacher Deirdre Macken.

Opening with a lively March, they were off to a great start. Company Sergeant Noel Galvin was conducting and introduced them to all the instruments in the band.

In addition, they were treated to the debut performance by the traditional Irish group comprising of Army band members. On the day, attendees were thrilled to be joined by STAG and Banna Chluain Meala members, along with family and friends from the school community.

The children were enthralled with the stunning performances, particularly the film music of John Willliams, Uptown Funk and George Ezra’s Green, Green Grass. What a treat !

Thank you to all the school community for their assistance and in particular to Clonmel man, Comdt. Fergal Carroll of the Defence Forces School of Music.
