November date fixed for Tipperary dangerous driving causing death court case

Clonmel based Natalya Maydan is charged with dangerous driving causing the death of father-of-two Peter Mulcahy from Carrick-on-Suir
The case of a Clonmel- based woman charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a Carrick-on-Suir man in a traffic accident on the N24 near Kilsheelan has been adjourned to November for hearing at Clonmel Circuit Court.
Natalya Maydan with an address at 73 Glenoaks Close, Clonmel appeared before Judge Cephas Power at Clonmel Circuit Court on Thursday, May 21.
She was returned for trial to the circuit court a few weeks ago following service of the Book of Evidence at Clonmel District Court.
Ms Maydan is charged with driving a vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public and caused the death of father-of-two Peter Mulcahy on the N24 at Ballynaraha, Kilsheelan on October 5, 2023.
Barrister Edward O'Mahony, representing Ms Maydan, requested the case be adjourned for mention as it was only in the circuit court list three weeks and it was too early to set a trial date.
He said more time was required for the completion of an expert's report.
Prosecuting barrister David Humphries, however, expressed concern about a delay in hearing this case as it concerned an event that occurred in October 2023.
He said there was considerable interest in the case and pointed out the prosecution was ready to proceed.
Mr Humphries requested Judge Power to fix a date for hearing the case, if not in July, then at the next session of Clonmel Circuit Court.
Judge Power said he also shared the prosecution's concerns in relation to undue delay, bearing in mind the date of the incident.
He remanded the accused on continuing bail to Clonmel Circuit Court on November 24 for trial as he considered it gave reasonable time for the furnishing of the report.
In the interim, he adjourned the case to Clonmel Circuit Court sitting on June 30 for an update on the defence side's expert's report.
