LATEST: Tributes pour in after Tipperary man (40s) who died after traffic incident is named locally

The man who died in hospital after being found unresponsive in his vehicle on the Dublin Road in Nenagh on Wednesday night has been named locally as John “Jaffa” Hogan.

The incident occurred shortly after 10.10pm on August 6. John was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he received medical treatment but was later pronounced dead.

Originally from Millview, Toomevara, John had been living in the village of Portroe. He is predeceased by his beloved brother Peter and father Sean, and is deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary; cherished children Shauna, John, Leah and Peter and their partners; his mother Sarah; sisters Sandra and Lynette; and brother Jason.

The news of his passing has since spread through the locale, where his many friends, family and neighbours have been paying tribute to him:

Cllr JP O'Meara, a fellow Toomevara man, paid tribute online: "One of life’s great characters, and club men, my deepest sympathies to Mary, Shauna, Johnny, Leah and Peter, and to all the Hogan family.

John will be reposing at Ryan's funeral home Nenagh (E45 KN93) this Saturday evening from 4 o'c to 6 o'c. His remains will arrive at St Josephs Church Toomevara on Sunday for his Requiem Mass at 11.30 o'c. (Livestream link to follow shortly) Followed by burial in Ballinree Cemetery.
