Tipperary woman's hair raiser for cancer charities is a huge success

Mollie will donate her hair to Little Lady Locks who create wigs and hair pieces for children with hair loss
A local woman living in Fethard recently held a special coffee where she cut her hair live on stage to donate to and raise money for cancer charities.
Fundraiser Mollie Standbridge gathered with family, friends and her local community on Wednesday August 26 in Fethard, to raise funds for great causes. Approximately €3,500 has been raised so far, after counting donations made on the day and through Mollie’s GoFundMe.
The coffee morning fundraiser had a twist in which Mollie selflessly donated her cut hair to Little Lady Locks who create wigs and hair pieces for children with hair loss. She also said funds raised will go towards South Tipperary Hospice and the Irish Cancer Society.
Speaking with Mollie on the day she explained to The Nationalist why she decided to fundraise for the various charities.
“Every family had been touched by cancer. South Tipperary Hospice provides amazing support for patients with life limiting conditions. They also provide counselling services to their families.
“The Irish Cancer Society also offers support to those with cancer and their families and loved ones. They fund cancer research to find better treatments that will save more lives. Many people are living with treatable cancer or are in remission thanks to this research.”
Mollie extended a special thanks to hairdresser Roisin Blake who helped cut Mollie’s hair which was donated, and also thanked everyone else who helped make the day go smoothly.
“Special thanks goes to Roisin Blake, local hairdresser and owner of Roisin’s Hair Salon.
"Thanks also to Paula and Kerry of Fethard Horse Country Experience who hosted the event. And to those who provided prizes for the raffle and cakes for the morning.”
“I’m really humbled by the support and love shown yesterday,” said Mollie.
