The news is a major boost for Carrick-on-Suir
The brand-new, state-of-the-art Gaelscoil Charraig Na Siuire school building has been given approval to proceed to construction by the Fianna Fáil Education Minister, Norma Foley.
Fianna Fáil Deputy Jackie Cahill said: “I am delighted to confirm that Minister Norma Foley has given official approval to the Gaelscoil in Carrick-on-Suir to proceed to construction.
“I have been working closely with both staff and the board of management in recent years to see this project proceed.
"In recent weeks, there had been some worry in relation to delays to construction of this brand new school due to budgetary issues between the Department of Education and the Department of Finance, but I am glad to say that we have also resolved these also.
“I am sure that this news will be greeted very positively locally, and I am very grateful to Minister Foley and her staff for working with me so closely on this issue.
"I would also like to thank local Cllr Kieran Bourke for his ongoing support of local education in Carrick-on-Suir”.
