Councillor nominations have been made for Tipperary’s Strategic Policy Committees at a recent sitting of Tipperary County Council.

SPCs are local authority committees that advise the council on policies related to different areas, sections and functions.

They help to develop and review policy.

An example of this was the review of vertical diversions (speed bumps, ramps etc) in the county earlier this year.

The policy was examined by the Infrastructure SPC, devised by the road section and then presented for adoption to the full council.

The committees are made up of councillors and stakeholders from different sectors, as representatives from trade unions, members of the community and volunteers.  There are seven in Tipperary and they are Economic Development and Enterprise, Housing, Infrastructure (to include Roads and Transportation, Planning and Emergency Services, Environment and Climate Action and Community, Culture and Library Services.
