Munster Senior A Champions - Camogie
This was a match that lived up to the hype. Last Saturday afternoon, local rivals Presentation Secondary School and Ursuline Secondary School delighted the huge crowd who turned out in the Camogie Grounds in The Ragg for the Senior A Camogie Munster Final with a closely fought contest that had a bit of everything.
The Ursuline had the narrowest margin of a lead at half-time, however, the Pres started the second half strongly with the wind behind them.
After a titanic battle on the field over every square inch, the Pres girls emerged victorious. Thanks to the Ursuline for a fantastic display of sport.
A huge ‘Míle Buíochas’ to all of our supporters – parents, students, past pupils, staff and friends of Presentation Thurles – your support meant the world. Onwards now to the All-Ireland semi-final in the next round. We are so proud of each of our girls on the panel and our two coaches, Mr Cian Treacy and Ms Cáit Devane.
Munster U14 and U19 Champions - Badminton
Congratulations to Presentation Thurles’ U14 and U19 Badminton teams, who won the Munster Badminton Schools Finals held in UL, Limerick, on January 20th.
Both teams represented Tipperary in this Munster competition. Our triumphant U14 team comprised of Abbie Delaney, Sophie O’Toole (Captain), Emily Delaney and Isabelle Murphy.
This was an incredible achievement for these students, who are all First Years in Presentation Thurles. Our U19 team also shared similar success in winning their own Munster title.
They cast aside stern competition from schools from Counties Clare, Limerick and Waterford. Well done to Isobel O’Hora (Captain), Jessica Ryan, Cara Delaney and Orla Ryan on their fantastic win, an extraordinary achievement to win an U19 Munster title for this team and our school.
We wish both teams the very best of luck, as they now prepare for the All-Ireland Badminton Finals which will be held on the 26th of March in Gormanston, Co. Meath.
Many thanks to their mentors, Mr Stephen Maher and Mr Darragh Taylor for their support and guidance.
Munster Senior A Champions - Soccer
Congratulations to our Senior soccer team, who once again won the Munster A title by defeating St Mary’s Midleton by a score line of 2-1; our goal scorers were Leanna Coppinger and Lily-Anne O’Meara (both TY students). Well done to the whole panel and to the management team of Mr Barry Ryan and Mr Cian Treacy.
What a memorable four days for our school here in Pres Thurles, winning three Munster titles at the top level of three different sports. #champions #presabú
