Adults invited to Cahir Castle for eerie medieval stories this Halloween night

As Halloween nears and the evenings draw in, the Office of Public Works (OPW) is inviting the fearless to gather within the storied walls of Cahir Castle for an evening of medieval menace.

The event, titled Great Was The Darkness, takes place in the castle’s banqueting hall on Tuesday, October 28, at 7pm. It promises a thrilling night of chilling tales from Medieval Ireland, strictly for adults. Admission is free, with booking available by phoning 052 7441011 or online at heritageireland.ie.

The stories will be told by Hannah Mac Auliffe, a Waterford-born, Dublin-based medievalist and PhD graduate of Trinity College Dublin. Families will be in for a fright with a range of ghoulish tours, spooky treasure hunts and other fun activities on offer – there’s truly something for everyone, young and old’
