The gathering will feature readings, reflections, poetry, and music, with a focus on themes of peace during the festive season. Senator Tom Clonan and Senator Patricia Stephenson will offer their perspectives, joined by representatives from the religious community, Trócaire, and the Irish Lebanese Cultural Foundation.
Musical contributions will be provided by St. Ailbe’s School Choir and Rockwell Music Academy.
Dr. Mohammed Abu Mughaisib of Médecins Sans Frontières, who oversaw operations in the Gaza Strip, will receive the Mary Swords Memorial Award from the Tipperary Peace Convention.
Ms Swords, who passed away on 5 September last year, was a lifelong member of the organisation and a prominent figure in Tipperary town, including serving as a councillor on Tipperary UDC from 2004 to 2014.
In addition, the shortlist of seven candidates for the 2025 Tipperary International Peace Award will be announced by the convention’s Honorary Secretary, Martin Quinn.
Attendance is free, and places can be reserved by emailing tipppeace@gmail.com.
