Battle of the Bands contest to give Tipperary music groups a chance to shine on stage

Up and coming music groups will have a chance to shine at the Tipperary Battle of the Bands Competition that kicks off next month.

The county-wide live music contest, sponsored by Clonmel Credit Union, aims to give Tipperary bands a “high quality, meaningful performance platform”

The Clonmel heat of the competition will take place in Gleeson’s Pub in Irishtown on March 8 while the Thurles heat will be in Hickey’s Bar on Cathedral Street on March 22.

“With growing interest in band music among young people, this event creates real opportunities to perform live, gain exposure, and connect with the local music scene,” said competition organiser Stephen McGrath.

The overall winning band will receive €500 and a performing slot at the Chicken Stock Music Festival. The Best Original Band, who play mostly original music, will win a performing slot at the When Next We Meet Festival in Clonmel and studio time at Gaf Studios in New Inn.

The Clonmel heat winners will receive a performing slot at the Féile Beag Festival while the Thurles heat winners will perform at the Chicken Stock Festival. Music vouchers will be presented to the band with the Best Social Media content and the Best Under 18 Band.

Bands wishing to enter Tipperary Battle of the Bands should contact: tipperarybotb@gmail.com to apply.
