Commemoration on Sunday next to remember Tipperary Freedom Fighter who died in action

Events to mark 100th anniversary of Selton Hill ambush in Leitrim

Volunteer Michael Sadlier


Volunteer Michael Sadlier was a member of a strongly dedicated republican family from Rathkenny, Drangan, who saw action throughout the War of Independence with A Company, Seventh (Drangan) Battalion, Third Tipperary Brigade, Irish Republican Army.


Wounded at Marlhill, Cashel, on November 3, 1922, Volunteer Michael Sadlier died at Cashel Hospital on November 4, 1922.
Volunteer Michael Sadlier was predeceased by his brother, Commandant Denis Sadlier, who was killed by accident at Cloneen on June 13, 1921.


The Sadlier family paid dearly for its dedication to Irish Freedom.


In this, the centenary month of the death of Volunteer Michael Sadlier, a Commemoration will be held at the Sadlier family grave in Drangan Churchyard at 12 noon on this Sunday, November 27, 2022.
