This eagerly anticipated Munster quarter final was played in perfect conditions on our 4G rugby pitch last Friday in front of a supportive home crowd of students, staff and parents.

The High School dominated the first half racing into a 26-0 lead by half time. Ben Masuku opened the High School's account with his first of two tries following sustained pressure from the home team. Sean McEntagert kicked the conversion.

Luke Slattery scored the High School’s second try following a smart tap penalty by David Coyne. McEntagert added the conversion to extend the High School lead to 14-0.

Midleton CBS struggled to get a foothold in the game which was in part due to the High School's tenacious defence. A number of turn overs secured the home team dominance and maintained the pressure on the Cork school. Liam Maher and David Coyne scored two more tries before the break, McEntagert adding one conversion, which seemed to put the result beyond doubt.

The second half was a more even affair. To their credit, Midleton began to put a few phases together and a good move down the wing brought their first try of the match about ten minutes into the second half. The High School's reply was swift with Ben Masuku making a break following good work by the Slattery brothers, TJ and Alex, to score his second try. McEntagert kicked the conversion to extend their lead to 33-7.

The match ebbed and flowed for the remainder of the second half and Midleton CBS redeemed themselves adding two further tries.

The High School now progress to a semi final away to Villers School Limerick after the midterm break.
