Great excitement around Bansha as Kate Flannery makes the step up for Ireland

Munster Rugby player named in first ever Ireland U20s women's squad

Munster Rugby's Kate Flannery (right) pictured with teammate Kate Sheehan has been named in the first Irish Women's U20 squad.

 Ireland Women’s U20 Rugby squad are preparing for an upcoming trip to Italy and among the squad for the game will be Bansha’s Kate Flannery. It is the first time ever that Ireland have fielded at this level. 

The 19-year-old west Tipperary native is a sister of Ulster rugby out-half Jake and is the only Munster player included in the squad of 26 that is selected by head coach Neill Alcorn.

Kate, who is part of the UL Bohemian set up, has previously represented Ireland at the U18 Six Nations Festival and will now look to make the step up when she goes with the squad to Italy on July 21st.

In Rome Ireland will be playing some warm up fixtures before playing Italy and Scotland later in the month. Preparations are going well to date with the squad for the trip listed as follows:
