Drom and Inch GAA and Camogie clubs Dinner Dance will be held on Saturday March 2nd in Revel at the Ragg. On the night the club will celebrate the fantastic victories our u21 hurling team had this year as well as the Junior Bs (currently preparing for an All-Ireland final in Kileedy, Limerick) and the Tom Cusack football team that earned medals last season. The camogie team too will be part of the celebrations following their county final victory in the senior championship.
Medals will be presented to all the above on the night and the club will also be commemorating the 50th and 40th year anniversaries of the 1974 and 1984 Mid Senior Hurling final winners.
In 1974, the Senior Hurling team captained by John Dwyer, won the clubs first ever Mid Senior Hurling Final by beating Thurles Sarsfields 3-9 to 3-6. Members of that panel included: John Dwyer (capt), Michael Costello, Larry Doherty, John McGrath (RIP) , Paddy Connolly, Seamus Butler, Michael Butler (RIP), Paudie Butler, Tommy Butler (RIP), Martin Butler, Eamon Butler (RIP) , John Harkin (RIP), John Kennedy (Anfield) (RIP), John Brennan (RIP), Paschal Ryan(RIP). Subs: Oliver Quinn, Michael Purcell, Eric Rusk(RIP), Matt McGrath, Larry Ryan, Pat Doherty, Francis Costello, Jimmy Harkin, Paul Stapleton (RIP), Sean Shanahan.
Ten years after that, our Senior hurling team, captained by Martin Fahey, repeated the success in the centenary year of 1984, by defeating Moycarkey in a replay on a score line of 1–9 to 1–8. The Dinner Dance is a night not to be missed with a 2 Course Meal and music by Acoustra and a DJ. The club are holding two ticket sale evenings this week on Tuesday 20th and Friday 23rd February from 8:30-10pm in ‘Revel @ the Ragg’.
