Former Irish Senior Hockey Internationals will be in action this weekend in Cork at the Four Nations Women’s Masters Hockey Tournament from today Friday 31st May to Sunday 2nd June.

This is the first time the Women’s Masters Four Nations tournament has been hosted in Cork and will feature a competitive weekend of 18 hockey matches across Cork’s two tournament venues - Garryduff Sports Centre and UCC Mardyke.

The Ireland o35s squad, which features 4 ex Irish senior internationals, launch their campaign against Scotland today and will be hoping to build on their success of winning Gold at the 2023 Masters Europeans and Silver at the 2022 Masters World Cup.

Kate Dillon, former Irish hockey international and Ireland 035s player said: As an ex Irish Senior Hockey International the Four Nations tournament is an opportunity to compete at the highest level of International Masters Hockey and an opportunity for the best to come together in the pursuit of a common goal – to win the Four Nations title.

When it comes to playing masters hockey there is no special treatment for ex senior internationals with a competitive selection process resulting in the talented and dedicated squad that we have for this weekend.

“The commitment of the players is also matched by the coaching team who put in huge work all year round.  Being selected to compete for 035s and represent your country in a sport you love is an honour and a privilege. Also, with time restraints with work and family, I think I value this opportunity more than when I was younger”.
