Tipperary people urged to nominate carers for national awards

Every year, national charity, Family Carers Ireland put the call out for nominations for their annual Netwatch Family Carer of the Year Awards.

Local Carer Support Manager Richie Molloy is personally asking the people of Tipperary and surrounding areas to submit a nomination on behalf of a member of their family who is in a caregiving role.

Speaking about the awards, Richie says “So many people in our communities are providing care in the home for a loved one, relative or friend with additional care needs, but so often, they don’t even recognise themselves as a carer, therefore their nearest and dearest don’t either. But it’s important to recognise this vital role, so the supports and services we provide for free locally are more visible to the carer and their families. Caring can be rewarding, but we know it can also be difficult, frightening and at times, very isolating. Something like a nomination for our awards could really put a smile on their faces.”

Richie is asking members in our community to log on, and nominate someone by visiting www.familycarers.ie.
