Tipperary students invited to meet Chinese ambassador to Ireland

The students from Rockwell College were invited to meet the ambassador after their recent trip to China.
Students from Rockwell College in Tipperary were recently invited to meet the Chinese ambassador to Ireland, after returning from a unique trip to China.
On Tuesday April 15, 20 Transition Year students and travelling staff, Mrs Joan Kennedy and Mr Patrick Egan, returned from an incredible trip to China.
This memorable journey was expertly guided by Neil Clarke, CEO of the ICCEC Ireland-China Cultural and Educational Centre.
Whilst there a significant aspect of the trip was the collaborative educational experience. Chinese and Irish students learned side-by-side, engaging together in robotics, carpentry, and traditional Chinese music lessons.
This educational collaboration made the trip far more than just a study tour—it was a living, hands-on exploration of Chinese traditions, creativity, and connection.
A notable highlight for the Rockwell College cohort was the opportunity to meet the Chinese Ambassador to Ireland on their return, Zhao Xiyuan.
The group engaged in a thoughtful and productive discussion, exchanging perspectives on education and culture in a relaxed setting.
In a gesture of goodwill and hospitality, the Ambassador joined students and staff in wearing a Rockwell College scarf, marking a symbolic and memorable moment in the visit.
The group were also interviewed by Chinese media and the interview is due to air soon.
