Tipperary’s Munster Championship showdown with Clare this Saturday has taken on added spice with confirmation that reigning Hurler of the Year Shane O’Donnell has been named in the Banner’s matchday panel — his first inclusion since last year’s All-Ireland final.

Clare manager Brian Lohan had previously ruled O’Donnell out for the 2025 season due to a shoulder injury, but the Éire Óg forward later signaled he was hopeful of returning before the campaign's end. His presence on the panel now throws up a potential wildcard for Tipp to deal with.

Tony Kelly is also back in Clare’s starting lineup, slotting into the half-forward line after illness ruled him out of their defeat to Waterford two weeks ago. Kelly is one of two changes, with Sean Rynne coming into midfield for his first championship appearance.

David Fitzgerald and Aidan McCarthy make way, with McCarthy not listed among the substitutes. Notably, Conor Cleary and Diarmuid Ryan are also absent from the Clare bench.
