Dressed in her Team Ireland kit for the early morning departure, Tipperary's Sharlene Mawdsley shared a light-hearted moment with her followers on Instagram, posting a photo of herself wheeling her bags into Terminal 2.
The caption read, "My taxi man taking his duties very seriously this morning."
The 26-year-old Newport sprinter confirmed on Monday that she would be making her competitive return this weekend after more than a month away from racing.
In recent weeks, Mawdsley has been dealing with the loss of her father, Thomas, who sadly passed away on June 3. Despite the difficult time, she announced her return to competition on Global Olympic Day.
“Happy Olympic day. A last-minute decision but I’ll be stepping into the Irish kit again this weekend for the European team championships,” she wrote.
Mawdsley is set to compete in the 4x400m mixed relay as part of a strong Irish squad that also includes Cillin Greene, Ciaran Carthy, Sophie Becker, and Callum Baird.
The whole of Tipperary will be cheering her on as she dons the green once more this weekend.
