Man arrested as part of gardaí investigation into string of 'Romance Fraud' cases
Gardaí have said that a man has been arrested in connection to their ongoing investigation into a number of romance fraud complaints in Ireland.
It is alleged that victims have been targeted through a variety of popular dating apps.
The man was arrested on Friday, 10 January after gardaí carried out a search warrant at a residence in Dublin. This was part of a planned operation which involved gardaí from the Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR) North Central, DMR South Central and Galway divisions.

Gardaí say that during the course of the search a number of electronic items were seized.
The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in Dublin. He has since been released from detention.
Investigations into the complaints are ongoing.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who believes they may have been a victim of or affected by fraud via dating apps to please contact any garda station and report the crime.
They have assured that all reports will be treated sensitively and in confidence.
