Tipperary Labour Party TD Alan Kelly has today confirmed that he will run for reelection in the upcoming general election for the north Tipperary constituency.

Kelly TD has been a Teachta Dála (TD) since the 2011 general election and served as leader of the Labour Party from 2020 - 2022 as well as Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government from 2014 - 2016.

Those running in the north Tipperary constituency will vie for three available spots after once again returning to being a standalone constituency.

Fine Gael have selected Ballina's Cllr Phyll Bugler as their candidate of choice and the Green Party have chosen Cloughjordan-based Iva Pocock to run on their behalf.

Independent Michael Lowry TD and Fianna Fáil's Jackie Cahill TD are the other two currently sitting TDs, both are expected to run again.

An additional three TDs will be elected for the south Tipperary constituency, making a total of six for the county overall.
