Initiatives launched to make North Tipperary a more Dementia inclusive community

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland are asking locals to get involved and help make Nenagh a more dementia inclusive town

Initiatives launched to make North Tipperary a more Dementia inclusive community

Recently attending the Friends of ASI Nenagh Dementia Awareness Training were members of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland North Tipperary Branch Committee

Late last year, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) launched an exciting initiative to begin Nenagh’s journey toward becoming a Dementia Inclusive Community.

A Dementia Inclusive Community is one where individuals living with dementia and their families can fully participate in society, supported by a community that understands and embraces them.

Since then, Friends of ASI Nenagh has been established as a voluntary group dedicated to making this vision a reality in Nenagh and surrounding areas. In collaboration with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland North Tipperary Branch, the group is inviting local businesses, community organisations, sports clubs, and individuals to get involved in this meaningful movement.

  • Help locate venues for services and other opportunities.
  • Promote and participate in local Alzheimer Society of Ireland events.
  • Volunteer at Social Clubs, Cafes, and local services.
  • Attend and encourage dementia awareness training across the community.

Upcoming Dementia Awareness Training – March 3rd

Friends of ASI Nenagh are pleased to announce free Dementia Awareness Training workshops in Nenagh town. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how you and your organisation can contribute to creating a Dementia Inclusive Community.

The Dementia Awareness Training will be hosted in Nenagh Library and there are three training workshops: 10am to 11:30am, 12:30pm to 2pm or 3pm to 4:30pm.

Key Topics Covered:

  •  Understanding Dementia
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Creating a Dementia Inclusive Community

This initiative is proudly supported by Tipperary County Council Library Service and Healthy Ireland. Upon completion of the training, participants will receive a Friends of ASI Commitment Sticker—a visible sign of support for those living with dementia and their families.
