Nenagh filmmaker Jake Mitchell is set to release his debut original short film ‘MARCO’ later this year.
Speaking to the Tipperary Star, Jake summarised the project: “The film centres on Marco, a former robber whose quiet life unravels when his ex-partner Tony, newly released from prison, comes for revenge.
“It’s a gritty tale of a man forced to face his past, drawn to a remote mountain where old secrets lie buried.
“The story digs into the weight of guilt and the demons he can’t leave behind.
“I’ve had one of the best masks on the market crafted for his character. played by me, Jake Mitchell.”

Jake explained: “This idea originated back in 2022, while I was working on a documentary called ‘Keeper Hill & Surrounding Areas’.
“I was initially planning on a survival documentary, however once I saw the potential, I knew this had to be bigger.”
Talking about some of his inspirations for the story, Jake listed the Finnish historical action thriller ‘SISU’ as a significant influence.
Jake has been working on the production since September 2024 with his creative collaborator and friend Seanpaul Fitzpatrick. The film has been self-financed at a cost of roughly €5,000 and features local areas such as Keeper Hill, Lough Derg and many more.
More details along with the full cast will be released in their next trailer, coming this summer.
Jake has said that once released, he hopes to submit the film to a number of national and international festival and competitions.
Not only has Jake been hard at work on ‘MARCO’ but he has also been developing his marketing business that he shares with Seanpaul Fitzpatrick.
Their marketing business started out creating promotional videos for Nenagh and Clonmel credit unions.
Speaking about the projects Jake said: “We have recently completed yet another major promo taking over six months for completion.
“Clonmel Credit Union have simply been outstanding partners. We expect significant results once the promo is released in the coming weeks. They’ve been a pleasure to work with.
“We’re currently working on our biggest promo yet, highlighting Nenagh Credit Union’s services and continuing to cover local towns/villages in our common bond.
“The NCU has been an unwavering partner and we’re very happy with our results to date.”
With the success of these recent projects, Jake and Seanpaul have decided to launch their official business ‘LAZ Marketing’.
Jake said “We’re very excited for the future, and we appreciate each & every valued customer.”
Summarising his recent projects Jake finally added: “I’d like to express my gratitude to those we’ve worked with, we couldn’t have done it without you.
“There will be big updates over the next few months particularly involving MARCO (Our biggest project), we advise you to stay tuned.”
