The Hunger for Justice: Gaza campaign launched by the Nenagh Friends of Palestine in collaboration with the North Tipperary Irish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign branch, has this week completed a full year of rolling 24-hour fasts in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Marking the final day of the campaign in Nenagh on Monday evening, local organiser Damian O'Donoghue announced on social media that the campaign had raised an absolutely monumental amount at €181,000 in total.

On April 14, 2025, the campaign marked its 365th consecutive day, with 349 volunteers having taken part in this unbroken chain of fasting – in some cases,  extending their challenge to 48 and 72-hours of fasting.

In his social media post, Damian wrote: "Members of 'Nenagh Friends of Palestine' gathering this evening to mark the end of the 'Hunger for Justice Campaign'. The campaign raised €181,000 and this will be sent directly to Medical Aid for Palestine. A huge effort from everybody involved and a special mention to Fergal McDonnell for all his work.
