In anticipation of the All-Ireland final next week, Tipperary TD Alan Kelly has been thinking ahead to the amount of traffic that will be heading from Tipperary to Dublin on the day. Earlier today, he shared a statement about his request to Irish Rail:
"I have been in touch with Irish Rail senior executives this morning to ask that they put on extra trains for the All Ireland Hurling Final on Sunday July 20th.
"I have been inundated with requests for more trains for this match where demand will be huge.
"I’m glad to say that I got a good response from Irish Rail. They are in the process of working out with what extra services that will be possible within their resource limitations.
"I expect that they will certainly put on extra trains on the Thurles, Templemore line but it is on the Waterford/Clonmel and the Ballybrophy/Nenagh lines that I would really like to see Irish Rail make efforts to facilitate those going to the match. These lines are the poor relation of the main lines yet they service huge populations across Tipperary so I really want to see extra trains put on these lines. It would be great if Irish Rail facilitated same and I look forward to their announcement later on this week"
