Nenagh is set to welcome a new business this weekend as Chemist Warehouse opens at Springfort Retail Park on Friday 23 January.
Chemist Warehouse is an internationally recognised discount pharmacy chain, offering a wide range of Irish and international health, wellness and beauty brands. The retailer also promotes savings of up to 70% on prescription costs and operates with no dispensing fee, positioning itself as a cost-of-living–friendly option for Irish communities.
Since entering the Irish market in 2020, Chemist Warehouse has opened stores across multiple locations, including Dublin, Cork, Meath, Carlow, Louth, Limerick and Wexford, creating more than 550 jobs nationwide.
While the new store is expected to bring employment and increased choice for customers in the Nenagh area, its arrival has prompted a strong show of support for existing local pharmacies.

On the Nenagh Community News Facebook page, some people said:
"Won't be going in there. Sticking with Dennis Finnnerty where I'm always greeted with a smile and some great medical advice."
"We will support our local chemists, always there for us"
"I’m sure there was other companies/franchises looking to have that unit, could’ve went with someone else. I’ll stick with Ray Walshs Chemist thanks support local."
"Very good pharmacies already in Nenagh. All locally owned and deserve our support."
"Staying with Murphy',s brilliant staff and kieran is so helpful."
Only time will tell how the arrival of the new store on the outskirts of the town will impact existing businesses, though many will be hoping Nenagh’s pharmacies can continue to thrive side by side, serving a loyal local customer base.
