Nenagh actor Daryl McCormack is set to star in a major new Apple TV thriller series alongside Hollywood heavyweights Dakota Fanning and Stellan Skarsgård.

The rising Irish star, best known for his roles in Bad Sisters and The Woman in the Wall, has secured a key part in the high-profile drama, which is currently in development.

The as-yet-untitled series comes from Emmy-winning writer Alex Cary and is being produced by Sony Pictures Television.

It centres on an undercover US Treasury agent (Fanning) who infiltrates a powerful global organisation with suspected criminal ties. However, as her mission unfolds, she begins to question whether the target is truly guilty.

McCormack will play Kar, the reluctant heir to the conglomerate, placing him at the heart of the story’s moral conflict and power struggle.

Veteran actor Skarsgård will portray Brandt, the influential figure leading the organisation.

The role marks another major step forward for McCormack, whose career continues to go from strength to strength on both sides of the Atlantic.

He has already earned widespread acclaim for his performances in recent years, including in Apple TV’s Bad Sisters, Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man and recent blockbuster Twisters.

Daryl will also soon star in the upcoming Pride and Prejudice adaptation for Netflix and Tom Ford’s upcoming film Cry to Heaven.
