Tipperary author brings Irish folklore to life in debut novel

Nenagh author Mark Corrigan releases ‘The Devil’s Heirloom’
A lifelong admirer of Stephen King, Mark has always been drawn to tales that blur the boundary between the ordinary and the supernatural. His fascination with Irish myths began with a simple question: What if these ancient stories were more than legends?
That question became the inspiration for The Devil's Heirloom.
After two years of writing, professional editing and independent publication, the novel will launch next month in paperback and eBook editions.
Ahead of publication, Mark is happy to reveal that The Devil's Heirloom has attracted a team of advance readers, received positive early reviews on Goodreads, and will be stocked by several independent Irish bookshops.
Speaking about what drew him to genre fiction, specifically Irish folklore and horror, he said:
“I've always been fascinated by the stories that have survived through generations. Whether they're true or not almost doesn't matter, what matters is that people believed them strongly enough to keep telling them."
He added that he’s always been a super fan of horror: “It lets us explore fears, both old and new, in a suitable atmospheric setting. Irish folklore already contains incredible supernatural stories, so it felt like a natural fit.”
Outside of writing, Mark enjoys tabletop roleplaying games including Dungeons & Dragons and Call of Cthulhu, where collaborative storytelling continues to fuel his imagination.
Mark has said that he is already hard at work on his next novel and that through his fiction, worldbuilding, ongoing podcast, and Foxford Files series, he hopes to introduce more readers to the rich and often unsettling tales.
