Hannah and Rory Grace
Brother and sister Rory and Hannah Grace from the Loch Eorna club in north Tipperary each brought a world handball winner’s medal home to the Grace household during the year.
Amid scenes of great excitement at the World 40 x 20 Four Wall championships played at Croke Park in November, Hannah teamed up with Wexford’s Jodie Keeling to win the 19 and under Ladies Doubles.
A college student in the United States, Hannah’s success ensured that her trip home for the event was worthwhile.
Rory, meanwhile, struck up a great partnership with another Munster player, Clare’s Sean Coughlan to claim the Men’s A Doubles title.
The pair had been building towards this success, having shown fine form in previous months by winning the World Wallball title in August and the All-Ireland 40 x 20 Colleges title when representing UL in October.
The titles won by Rory and Hannah Grace were the highlight of a very successful World Championships for Tipperary players, who also won two silver and five bronze medals.
Rory and Hannah Grace are among the sports stars honoured by the Tipperary United Sports Panel, which will present the Annerville awards, sponsored by Bulmers, at the Talbot Hotel Clonmel on Saturday night, January 25.
