Over 4,000 Tipperary houses now have solar

So far this year, 788 householders in the Premier county have installed solar panels.
One in every 13 Tipperary households now has rooftop solar panels installed, according to Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) records, with 4,000 total home solar installations as of 2026.
In 2021, 161 households took up the options of solar panels; each year since, more and more households opted to install solar panels to a total of 1,438 last year.
So far this year, 788 householders have installed solar panels.
The uptake reflects a wider national shift as more families generate their own electricity to lower expenses, say Kilowatt.ie, who complied the data.
"Solar energy is helping housholds to put a huge dent in their electricity bills” said CEO Dominic Ó Gallachóir, founder of Kilowatt.ie.
"And with the right electricity tariff, we even see some households who get a payment from their supplier rather than a bill. So it's no surprise to see the boom in solar panel installations is continuing."
