Gaelscoil Carraig na Siúire school defeated Birdhill in an outstanding county Cumann na mBunscol Under 13 F Hurling final at Semple Stadium.

Early scores from Eoin Heffron and Brian Tobin settled the early nerves for Birdhill NS. Gaelscoil Carrick responded well however with Seán Ó Foghlú their key talisman in the opening half. The second half was all action as both forward lines sought to unlock the opposition’s defences.
Goals from Cathal Hannan and Brian Tobin had the Birdhill fans in ‘Dreamland’ only for late scores from Gaelscoil Carrick’s Bobby Ó Druacháin and that man Seán Ó Foghlú wrestling the title away from them. ‘Player of the Match’ Cian de Paor served up a master class for Gaelscoil Carrick. He was ably supported by his terrific teammates. Birdhill NS played superbly and no doubt we will see this fine school back competing for more honours in the not too distant future!
