'Common sense,' Parking removed from busy Tipperary street

Parking has been removed from Parnell Street in Thurles.

The narrow Thurles street, which can often be the scene of traffic build-up, can no longer be used to park cars on, due to the addition of double yellow lines.

Speaking on social media, Cllr Jim Ryan said: “I am so delighted that after fighting for years to have parking removed from Parnell Street that the council have painted double yellow lines along this extremely dangerous and busy road. Hopefully pictures like below are now a thing of the past.”

Many commenters expressed a similar sentiment to Cllr Ryan.

One said: “Finally, you can’t beat a bit of common sense, disaster of a street for traffic.”

Another user said: “So glad this has been done it’s a disaster most days hopefully people will adhere to the no parking rule.”
