CBS Thurles has extended their condolences to the family and friends of Pierce Murphy, following his passing.
A former pupil pf the school, Pierce taught in the school up until his retirement in 2009.

The school said: "It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our friend and former colleague, Pierce Murphy. Pierce devoted the majority of his working life to the education and wellbeing of young people here in the CBS. His commitment to our school community was unwavering, and his influence has been felt by generations of students and staff alike.
"Pierce attended Scoil Ailbhe and the CBS before starting teaching in the school in 1969. He retired in 2009 as the longest serving teacher in the history of the school. Following his retirement, Pierce continued to give generously of his time and talents, remaining actively involved in so many aspects of school life.

"His enthusiasm for our school musical productions and his steadfast support of our sporting teams through first aid embodied his enduring passion for our students and their success. Pierce will be remembered not only for his professionalism and dedication, but also for his kindness, good humour, and the positive presence he brought to every interaction.
"We extend our deepest sympathies to Patsy, his son Brian, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. May he rest in peace."
