Opening date given for new McDonald's in Tipperary
The drive-thru restaurant will open at the end of the summer
The new McDonald’s outlet in Thurles is scheduled to open on August 19, almost exactly a year after the fast food chain was given the go-ahead by An Coimisiún Pleanála.
In advance of the opening, the ubiquitous American chain is hiring fulltime and part-time employees to train them in time for the grand opening, with wages starting at the minimum wage rage, €14.25 per hour for those over 20.
The development was originally granted permission in May 2025, but went to the Board for approval on foot of a number of objections.
Ultimately, the Board determined that such a development ‘not seriously injure the amenities of property in the vicinity, would not be prejudicial to public health and would be acceptable in terms of flood risk, traffic and pedestrian safety and visual amenity’.
