Rosanna Lawn Tennis Club in Tipperary Town held the 12-hour tennis marathon
A Tipperary tennis club have taken part in a marathon tennis tournament, all in the name of raising money for the club's development.
Rosanna Lawn Tennis Club in Tipperary Town held a tennis marathon, which saw various members of the club play tennis for 18 hours with the aim of raising money for some upgrade works at the club.
Over 95 adult players and 30 children took part in the 18 hour tennis marathon, the club said in a post on social media.
The fundraiser comes as the club are aiming to fundraise enough to resurface their three tennis courts over the summer, as well as installing a new drainage system under the courts, laying tarmac over the court area, then laying Art Tiger Turf Astro and new fencing.
Rosanna Lawn Tennis Club say that the works will cost over €100,000, with some grants received to cover the work, but the club decided to undertake the fundraising effort to bridge the funding gap.

The club say that the works will be of huge benefit to the local community, and will bring the club up to an excellent standard.
Various local businesses in the Tipperary Town area were called upon to support the fundraiser, with companies being asked to sponsor a time slot for the 12 hour tennis marathon.

The club also have a GoFundMe page, with almost €4,000 raised so far.
