LIVE: Male (30s) arrested after assault in Tipperary left man (80s) in 'critical condition'

Gardaí are continuing to investigate a serious assault that occurred at St Michael's Avenue in Tipperary Town on Friday, September 12, 2025, at approximately 9.35pm.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate a serious assault that occurred at St Michael's Avenue in Tipperary Town on Friday, September 12, 2025, at approximately 9.35pm.

A man, aged in his 30s has been arrested in relation to this incident and is currently detained under provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in county Tipperary.

The injured party, a man in his 80s, remains in critical condition in hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Anyone who was in the area of St Michael’s Avenue between 7pm and 10pm, and has video camera footage (including dash-cam), is asked to make it available to gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tipperary Town Garda Station on 062 80670, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
