BREAKING: Man (30s) charged in relation to fatal Tipperary Town assault to appear in court

The charge relates to the death of Timothy Murnane in Tipperary Town last year

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, it was revealed that Gardaí investigating the homicide of Timothy Murnane that occurred at St Michael’s Avenue in Tipperary Town on Friday, 12th September 2025, have arrested a male in his 30s on Tuesday 27th January 2026.

The male has since been charged and is due to appear in front of the Thurles District Court this morning, Wednesday 28th January 2026.

81-year old Timothy (Teddy) Murnane died after he was assaulted outside his home at St Michael's Avenue, Tipperary Town on Friday 12th September, 2025.

Teddy was a well-known bus driver and had the privilege of driving Tipperary hurling teams to Croke Park and venues all around the country. He is survived by his wife Margaret, daughter Rachel, sons Patrick and Timothy.
