Emly’s Carol Hyland has been nominated ‘Mum of the Year’

Youth worker Carol Hyland has been nominated for the 2026 Beko & Woman’s Way Mum of the Year Award. Originally from Emly, Co. Tipperary, Carol now lives outside Naas with husband, Paul and two children, Dáire (10), Éala (6) and Lúna the Cockapoo. Having studied applied social studies and social care in college, a job offer brought her to Kildare, where she still lives.

A passionate youth work advocate, Carol is a strong believer in working with the community so that the community can grow. As a Project Leader at Core Youth Services in Inchicore, an independent community-based youth service, she has dedicated more than 20 years to supporting and inspiring young people.

Passionate about non-formal education, Carol also believes in the power of thinking outside the box to create fun, engaging learning experiences that connect young people. Her creativity and enthusiasm are at the heart of her work every day. To read more about Carol’s journey and her passion for youth work, her full interview is available to read in the latest edition of Woman’s Way magazine.

The Beko Woman’s Way Mum of the Year Awards are back in 2026 for an incredible 23rd year with Beko proudly supporting the awards for more than a decade. The Awards celebrate Ireland’s amazing mothers and shine a light on women who quietly and consistently make life better, for their families, society and everyone around them.

Open to mums throughout Ireland, the accolade gives spouses, children, relatives, friends and community groups the opportunity to recognise and reward the fantastic work mums do for their families and friends. A landmark event in the social calendar, the awards celebrate the strength, dedication and community contribution of mothers in Ireland.

Finalists will be treated to a fabulous afternoon at a special awards ceremony later in the year where the prestigious title as Beko & Woman’s Way Mum of the Year Award will be awarded. Celebrity Mum of the Year and a Special Recognition Award will also be honoured at the event. Each finalist will receive a top-of-the-range CaffeExperto bean-to-cup coffee machine while the winner will receive a €2,500 voucher to spend on Beko appliances.
