A local artist collective called Fiantas will host the next in a line of festivals they have organised in recent years at Jim of the Mills in Upperchurch this Saturday  August 24.

The collective are Cáit Ní Riain, Greta Ni Riain, Jenny Hicks and Jimmy D’Arcy. Their work is focussed on celebrating the Celtic traditions, the natural cycle of the seasons and providing a place for community to flourish.

Feile Lugnasa will bring community together in celebration of one of our ancient fire festivals. The festival of Lughnasa marks the beginning of the harvest season. It is also believed to have been a wake for the summer that has passed.

The festival will include a series of workshops, a feast of locally sourced food, dancing and music in the evening by Disco Unplugged (Colm Murphy, Cáit Ní Riain, Brendan Begley)  followed the iconic folk singer Eoghan O Ceannabhain.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/feile-lughnasa-bearing-fruit-tickets-947322716747) or through Jim of the Mills.
