Strong winds knocked 30 slates off Tipperary church roof leaving bill of €9,000

The High Cross on the front of of St Ailbe's Church in Emly was damaged.

Storm Éowyn caused damage to the roof of St Ailbe's Church in Emly, it has been revealed. 

Approximately 30 slates were either blown off or dislodged, and the base of the High Cross on the front of the building was damaged.

Collins Steeplejacks, Ardnacrusha, county Clare will come on site on Monday, February 24.

Their work will cost over €9,000.

Allianz p.l.c. Insurance will cover this cost initially but will, of course, recoup it in the coming few years.
