Tipperary athlete Sharlene Mawdsley has been enjoying a well-earned break after a long season that included a fourth place finish in an Olympic Final in Paris.

The Newport AC athlete has posted several pictures of her "holibops" and "life from the beach".

Mawdsley, from Newport in Tipperary, competed in several races at the Olympics this year, including the women's 4x400m relay race, which saw Ireland claim an incredible fourth place.

Hot on the heels of her Olympic success, Sharlene said the experience of the Olympics was very "up and down", adding "you come back and you kind of have a bit of a dip - you just don't want to keep going".

The 26-year-old said previously she will be taking a six to eight week break once the season ended earlier this month, where she will do "nothing".
