Newport sprinter recovering from hamstring injury
Sharlene Mawdsley is in a race against time to be fit for the European Athletics Championships, which take place in Birmingham from August 10-16.
The Newport AC sprinter pulled up with a hamstring injury in the Women’s 200 metres final at the National Championships last weekend, and left the track visibly upset.
She has been named in the Irish Women’s 400 metres and relay teams for the European championships.
She has stated on social media that she’s working with her medical team to try and return to fitness as soon as possible.
