Twenty-five years after ending the county's wait for Liam MacCarthy, the 2001 Tipperary senior hurling panel returned to Croke Park to receive a standing ovation ahead of the 2026 All-Ireland final

For 25 years, the achievements of Tipperary's 2001 All-Ireland senior hurling team have occupied a special place in the county's sporting history. On Sunday, that remarkable group returned to Croke Park to receive the recognition their success continues to deserve as they were honoured as the GAA's Jubilee Team ahead of the All-Ireland senior hurling final.

Led once again by captain Tommy Dunne and manager Nicky English, the players walked onto the famous turf to warm applause from supporters gathered in headquarters.

It was a fitting tribute to the team that ended Tipperary's decade-long wait for the Liam MacCarthy Cup with a memorable 2-18 to 2-15 victory over Galway in the 2001 final.

Mark O'Leary's two goals, Tommy Dunne's inspirational display and Eoin Kelly's seven-point contribution ensured the Premier County claimed its first All-Ireland title since 1991.

All 28 players, along with legendary team manager Nicky English, were introduced one-by-one by MC Damien Lawlor in front of the crowd present prior to the game, giving all the Premier supporters in attendance, and at home via images, a chance to see their heroes from yesteryear.

Those present were: Tommy Dunne, Brendan Cummins, Tom Costello, Philip Maher, Paul Ormond, Eamon Corcoran, David Kennedy, Paul Kelly, Eddie Enright, Mark O'Leary, John Carroll, Eoin Kelly, Lar Corbett, Declan Ryan, Eugene O'Neill, Darragh Rabbitte, Aidan Butler, Conor Gleeson, Donnacha Fahy, Liam Cahill, Paddy O'Brien, John O'Brien, Micheal Ryan, Noel Morris, Brian O'Meara, Terry Dunne, Paul Curran, John Leahy, Nicky English.
