Killea produced a stirring late comeback to claim the Mid Junior B Hurling title in dramatic fashion, with man of the match Paul Mullin grabbing the crucial fourth goal as they edged Gortnahoe Glengoole by three points in Templetuohy on Sunday evening.

At the start of this Mid Final, a minute's silence was held for young Tuiren Phelan of Gortnahoe Glengoole, who sadly passed away earlier this week at the young age of five.

Killea started this Mid Final the livelier of the two teams, scoring two points within a few minutes. They added two goals from Neil Quinlan and Tom Bourke. Neil Quinlan contributed some lovely points throughout the game. His opposite, Liam Hayes, kept Gortnahoe's scores going with some fine points both from play and placed balls.

Despite Killea’s great start to the match, Gortnahoe rallied with six unanswered points from their forward line to go into half-time a point up.

Killea again came out the stronger in the second half, scoring two quick points from Dan McAllister and Neil Quinlan to put them up one point. Gortnahoe's Liam Hayes was on fire in the second half, scoring seven points, with six of those from placed balls.

Killea fought hard throughout the second half but were not able to get the scores. Killea got a goal courtesy of Jimmy Mullins to get them back into the game.

The turning point for Killea came when man of the match Paul Mullin was on hand to score a goal after Robbie Gleeson batted down an incoming ball. Paul went on to score another point to secure a win against Gortnahoe Glengoole, who for large stretches of the second half looked certain winners.

Man of the match was awarded to Paul Mullin, and he was presented with his award by Premier Credit Union representative Graham Cullen.

The cup was presented to captain Tadhg Quinlan by Mid Chairman Martin Bourke, along with Graham Cullen representing Premier Credit Union.
