Cahir Park beat Mullinahone 4-0 in final

Cahir Park (B) 4 – 0 Mullinahone

Cahir Park claimed the Division 2 Shield title with a clinical second-half performance against Mullinahone.

The opening stages were cautious, with Mullinahone controlling possession in midfield without seriously testing Marc Cagney in goal. Cahir looked dangerous on the counter attack and eventually took the lead on 37 minutes when Kenny Cunningham was played through on the left before finishing low into the corner of the net.

Mullinahone came close to an equaliser before the break, but Cagney produced an important save.

Cahir started the second half strongly and doubled their advantage on 50 minutes when Hichem Birem’s shot was parried into the path of David Halpin, who finished from close range.

Just two minutes later, Halpin flicked on a corner for captain Darragh Conway to power home a header and make it 3-0.

Mullinahone continued to battle and forced another excellent save from Cagney before having a goal ruled out for offside. John O’Regan completed the scoring on 82 minutes with a composed finish from 12 yards.

While the scoreline may have been harsh on Mullinahone, Cahir Park were deserved winners on the day.
