Donohill and District FC completed an outstanding campaign in style, claiming the Division 3 Shield Final with a hard-fought victory over Dualla FC.

In a tightly-contested encounter, Michael Buckley proved the hero for Donohill, delivering the decisive moment of the final with a superbly-taken free kick that found the net and ultimately separated the sides.

Once they took the lead, Donohill showed great composure and defensive discipline, refusing to allow Dualla a route back into the game, as they held firm until the referee’s final whistle.

The victory puts the finishing touch to what has been a remarkable season for Donohill. Alongside securing promotion to Division 2, they also enjoyed an impressive run to finish runners-up in the O’Reilly Cup, underlining the consistency and quality they have shown throughout the year.

Lifting silverware is a fitting reward for a team that has gone from strength to strength this season, and with promotion already secured, Donohill will head into next year full of confidence and momentum.

They are a club clearly moving in the right direction, with bigger challenges ahead next season.
